Concept of Retail Customer in Futures Trading
In this context of financial law, the following is a definition of Retail Customer: A customer that does not qualify as an eligible contract participant under Section 1a(18) of the Commodity Exchange Act, 7 USC 1a(18). An individual with total assets that do not exceed $10 million, or $5 million if the individual is entering into an agreement, contract, or transaction to manage risk, would be considered a retail customer.
